Our Houses
A setting conducive to developing positive self-esteem & wellbeing
Independence
In hospital, I was more sedated. I was asleep normally. It’s just a feeling where you haven’t got anywhere to go except there, just being there, depressed, so agitated, so angry, so furious why it happened to you, so down in the dumps that you can’t get out, can’t see any way forward. They should have more places like this, where it’s one-to-one, talking to you, gradually building you up into a state where you can be confident enough to carry on.
Your Own Space
Many people who come to live in the Community have a long history of institutional care and are often not used to personal space. Privacy is respected by all members of the Community. Everyone has their own room, some with en-suite facilities, and are encouraged and supported in personalising it to make it their own. Self- expression is a part of who you are.
All residents have a key to their own bedroom and access to keys to the main house. All locks have an override system for use in emergency situations or in agreement with Care Plans. Staff only enter a resident’s bedroom at their invitation or as agreed within the service Care Plan.
All houses have a registered manager with overall responsibility to ensure that you are well supported.
